Voice to Parliament

On 19 June the Parliament passed the Constitution Alteration Bill.

The Australian people will have the opportunity to to recognise First Nations people in the Constitution and enshrine a Voice to Parliament. The Voice to Parliament will deliver a practical and constitutionally sound change that will make a difference in the lives of First Nations Australians.

Over the next few months there will be increased attention around this topic and I encourage you all to engage, respectfully, in the upcoming debate.

Jobs Growth Under the Albanese Government

In the first year of the Albanese Labor Government 465,000 jobs were created, the strongest of any new government.

The unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 per cent with participation in the workforce increasing to a record high of 66.9 per cent with a greater share of women employed than ever before.

The Albanese Government is working to create a stronger, more resilient economy to get more Australians into well-paying and full-time employment.

Getting Wages Moving Again

The previous government deliberately kept wages down for a decade.

Residents in our community were held back, while profits for large corporations skyrocketed.

During the election, we were clear that Labor would get wages moving again.

We have delivered. The minimum wage will be increasing once again, from July.

For 2.7 million Australians, including many in our community, this will make a significant difference. It will help residents pay rent, service their mortgages, and put food on the table.

We’ve also delivered a historic pay rise for aged care workers and passed legislation to make it easier for workers and their unions to collectively bargain for better wages and conditions.

The Albanese Labor Government is deliberately getting wages moving again.
