On 21 May 2022, the people of Werriwa re-elected me to represent them in the House of Representatives and Australians voted for change, electing an Albanese Labor Government.
One year on and the Albanese Government has continued to deliver on our promises. The Albanese Government has improved our standing on the world-stage and is managing the challenges that our country is facing.
Here are some highlights of the Albanese Government’s first 12 months in office:
Legislated a 43% emissions reduction target by 2030 and net zero by 2050;
Provided 180,000 fee-free TAFE places;
Reduced the PBS co-payment to $30;
Increasing the pay of our Aged Care workers by 15%;
Increasing Jobseeker, Austudy and Youth Allowance payments;
Tripling the Medicare bulk-billing rebate;
Legislated an increase to Paid Parental Leave;
Legislated a National Anti-Corruption Commission;
Mandated 24/7 nurses in Aged Care;
Cheaper child care from 1 July 2023; and
Holding a referendum on a First Nations Voice to Parliament
Australians voted to end the 9 years of chaos, rorts and dysnfunction of the previous Government. I am proud to be part of an Albanese Labor Government that is working hard to deliver for the Australian people.
