Welcome to this week’s e-Newsletter!

This week was the first Parliamentary sitting since the budget was handed down and the Albanese Government is continuing to deliver on our agenda.

One Year Anniversary of the Albanese Labor Government

On 21 May 2022, the people of Werriwa re-elected me to represent them in the House of Representatives and Australians voted for change, electing an Albanese Labor Government.

One year on and the Albanese Government has continued to deliver on our promises. The Albanese Government has improved our standing on the world-stage and is managing the challenges that our country is facing.

Here are some highlights of the Albanese Government’s first 12 months in office:

  • Legislated a 43% emissions reduction target by 2030 and net zero by 2050;

  • Provided 180,000 fee-free TAFE places;

  • Reduced the PBS co-payment to $30;

  • Increasing the pay of our Aged Care workers by 15%;

  • Increasing Jobseeker, Austudy and Youth Allowance payments;

  • Tripling the Medicare bulk-billing rebate;

  • Legislated an increase to Paid Parental Leave;

  • Legislated a National Anti-Corruption Commission;

  • Mandated 24/7 nurses in Aged Care;

  • Cheaper child care from 1 July 2023; and

  • Holding a referendum on a First Nations Voice to Parliament

Australians voted to end the 9 years of chaos, rorts and dysnfunction of the previous Government. I am proud to be part of an Albanese Labor Government that is working hard to deliver for the Australian people.

Werriwa Volunteer Morning Tea

Last week was National Volunteer’s Week and for the 7th year I hosted a morning tea to recognise the recipients of the Werriwa Volunteer Awards.

I delivered a speech in Parliament on the amazing work of our volunteers and to thank them for the vital services they provide in our community.

National Anti-Scam Centre

Scammers have been increasingly targeting Australians in new and more sophisticated ways and in 2022 Australians lost over $3.1 billion to scams.

The Albanese Government is establishing a National Anti-Scam Centre to better coordinate initiatives between the finance, telecommunications and digital sectors to prevent scams.

It is important to remain vigilant. Please click the button below to learn more about how to protect yourself and report scammers.
