Welcome to this weeks e-Newsletter!

I hope everyone enjoyed the school holidays.

The month of May will be a busy Parliamentary month with the Treasurer, Jim Chalmers, handing down the budget on 9 May and three Parliamentary sitting weeks. I look forward to being back in Canberra and putting our communities voices forward.

As the Government finalises the budget, the focus will be on providing cost-of-living relief for Australians and making our country more resilient to the shocks experienced globally.

Mobile Black Spot Survey

Werriwa is a large electorate in size with so many new housing developments in Austral and Edmondson Park.

I know that many in our community have been experiencing poor or no mobile coverage across the electorate and so I am running a survey to better understand which suburbs are most affected.

A Direct Pathway To Citizenship For Eligible New Zealand Citizens

New Zealand is our closest ally and we’re strengthening our deep ties.

From July 1 2023, there will be a direct pathway for eligible New Zealand citizens to Australian Citizenship.

All Special Category Visa holders will be able to apply directly for citizenship, as long as potential applicants meet four-year residence and other eligibility requirements.

Many New Zealanders choose to live and contribute to our country. This change will give them the opportunity to become Australian citizens and enjoy the rights and obligations that come from citizenship.

Australia and New Zealand; we’re not just friends, we’re family.

Investing In Our National Parks

The Albanese Government will invest $262.4 million to address the chronic underfunding of Australia’s iconic national parks.

These are a source of national pride and they should be funded appropriately. This investment will create 110 new jobs and protect our national parks including Booderee National Park, the World Hertiage-listed Kakadu and Uluṟu-Kata TjuṯaNational Parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens and a network of 60 Australian Marine Parks.
