Welcome to this week’s e-Newsletter!

It has been a big week for Werriwa, with new funding announcements and a visit from the Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Linda Burney MP.

We are only 4 nights away from the Albanese Government’s budget, which will focus on providing relief for Australians under pressure, properly funding government services, and investing in our economy for the future.

Linda Burney Visits Werriwa

The Minister for Indigenous Australians, the Hon Linda Burney MP, and I held a meeting with Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council and other members of the community to discuss the upcoming referendum on the First Nations Voice to Parliament.

It was a productive and important conversation and I thank the Minister and those who attended for their engagement.

Funding For Our Local Roads

The Albanese Government is funding local road projects in our community under Phase 4 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

A number of local councils will benefit including:

• Liverpool City Council will receive $1,430,716 and an additional $825,269

• Campbelltown City Council will receive $1,106,330 and an additional $638,156

• Fairfield City Council will receive $1,083,578

The conditions of our roads are unacceptable and I hope this funding will make our roads safer.

Early Learning Strategy Round Table

The Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP, and I held a roundtable with early learning educators in our community.

We spoke about the Albanese Government’s Early Learning Strategy as well as their ideas and concerns surrounding early education especially in South-West Sydney.

Thank you to all those who took the time to attend and offer their insights.

Funding For Local Schools

Under the first round of the Albanese Government’s School Upgrades Fund, nine schools in Werriwa will receive funding under the School Upgrades Fund.

This funding will be used to improve and build outdoor learning spaces, purchase and upgrade ICT equipment and install or upgrade shade structures and refurbish classrooms.

The Albanese Government is delivering on our promise to improve local schools for our children.
