The Prime Minister Visits Werriwa

The Prime Minister, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, and I visited Western Sydney Airport (WSA) to announce a major milestone. WSA is now halfway through construction and is expected to open in 2026. Qantas and Jetstar are the first airlines to sign up to operate domestic flights when the airport opens.

This will be a world-class airport that will provide jobs and opportunities for many in our local community. I am glad that this important piece of infrastructure is being delivered by the Albanese Government.

Currently over 3,000 people are working on the construction of the airport, with half of the workers coming from our local community.

Fairfield-Liverpool Cricket Association 100th Anniversary

Recently Fairfield-Liverpool Cricket Association celebrated their 100 year anniversary. It was a night to recognise the incredible work of so many volunteers over the years and to highlight the importance of volunteer-led organisations in our community.

Thanks to everyone for organising the event and thank you to the special guest Kerry O’Keeffe for attending!

Worker protections extend to all workers, regardless of their migration status. However, 1 in 6 recent migrants to Australia is paid less than the minimum wage.

Recently, the Albanese Government has announced a package of measures to protect workers at risk of exploitation.

Macquarie Island Marine Park

On World Environment Day the Minister for the Environment and Water, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, announced that the Macquarie Island Marine Park will triple in size.

The park will expand from 162,000 square kilometres to 475,465 square kilometres.

This is a huge win for world ocean protection and will help ensure that Australia’s unique and iconic species are better protected.
