New data shows Werriwa schools face massive cuts under Liberals

May 12, 2017

Explosive new data obtained by the NSW Teachers Federation under freedom of information laws shows that every public school in NSW will get huge funding cuts thanks to Malcolm Turnbull’s $22 billion cuts to schools.

Over the next two years alone, public schools across the state will lose a staggering $846 million. In Werriwa, this means that in 2018 and 2019, seven schools in this area will lose over $1 million dollars in funding:

  • Ashcroft High School loses $1,138,259
  • Bonnyrigg Heights Public School loses $1,230,151
  • Casula High School loses $1,010,452
  • Cecil Hills High School loses $1,319,219
  • James Busby High School loses $1,464,951
  • Lurnea High School loses $1,427,036
  • Miller Technology High School loses $1,354,414

Anne Stanley MP, Federal Member for Werriwa, said “parents, teachers, and schools deserve the truth about how much funding will be cut from their school.”

“The Liberal’s schools policy has fallen apart and has been exposed for what it really is – a massive cut to every school in Werriwa and across the country.”

“Is it any wonder Malcolm Turnbull’s education minister has gone to ground?”

“Over the next ten years Malcolm Turnbull is cutting $22 billion from schools to pay for his $50 billion big business tax cut. What kind of Prime Minister rips money off school kids to give it to multinationals?”

“Bill Shorten and I have pledged to restore every single dollar of the $22 billion the Liberals have cut from schools because unlike Malcolm Turnbull, we believe every child, in every classroom, deserves every opportunity to succeed in their education.”
