A MUCH-NEEDED UPGRADE FOR HOXTON PARK RESERVE
A re-elected Albanese Labor Government would deliver $1.026 million for the upgrade of the playing surface and field lighting at Hoxton Park Reserve in Hinchinbrook.
The existing electricity infrastructure at the site doesn’t support the basic operations of the Liverpool Olympic Football Club during evening training and activities. This has meant blackouts and electrical fires over recent years.
The playing surface is also potholed and has poor grading and drainage, which resulted in 30 per cent of the 2022 playing season being cancelled due to wet weather.
This much-needed election commitment will improve the experience and enjoyment of everyone that participates in activities at Hoxton Park Reserve.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
Quotes attributable to Anne Stanley, Federal Member for Werriwa:
“Liverpool Olympic Football Club is a wonderful family club which encourages all players boys, girls and players with a disability. I am really glad I have been able to work with the executive of the club to help their dream of better facilities come to reality as I know the lighting and playing surface at this site have long been a frustration for players and the executive.”
‘At the moment, they can’t run the air conditioning or boil the kettle while the on-field lighting’s on without worrying about an electrical fault.
‘This upgrade will fix that and greatly improve the playing and training experience for club members of all ages.’
