LABOR COMMITS TO OUTDOOR UPGRADES AT LIVERPOOL WOMEN’S RESOURCE CENTRE

Today we announce that a Shorten Labor Government will provide $25,000 towards a new deck and shade cloth at Liverpool Women’s Resource Centre (LWRC).

This election will be a choice between a united Shorten Labor Government which will provide these vital upgrades for the LWRC, or more of the Liberals’ cuts and chaos.

LWRC was established in 1984 and provides support, drop in counselling, and telephone support to a wide range of women throughout the 2168 postcode and wider Liverpool Local Government area.

The LWRC runs groups and programs including art, sewing and social support groups. Currently all groups have free child minding on premise, are low or no cost, and run in school hours.

The services offered by LWRC are consistently accessed by disadvantaged women and women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. LWRC groups are diverse and welcoming.

The shade cloth will provide additional sun cover in the back yard of the centre adjacent to the child minding facilities.

In addition to the shade cloth, the deck in the child care area is now aged and suffering wear and tear. Labor’s funding will allow LWRC to replace the deck area.

A Shorten Labor Government is committed to advancing the interests of women and gender equality across Australia. This commitment will ensure LWRC continues to provide quality services to vulnerable women in the South West Sydney Region.
