Macquarie Fields Station Upgrade
The Member for Werriwa, Ms Anne Stanley MP, welcomes the announcement by the NSW Government to upgrade the Macquarie Fields train station as part of its $800.7 million Safe Accessible Transport Plan.
The station, operating since 1888, is only accessible via stairs, excluding many vulnerable members of the community and parents with prams.
The NSW Government has committed to building a new footbridge with lifts, stairs, a covered walkway to the platforms, a new family accessible toilet, improved lighting and CCTV. Additionally, upgrades will include six accessible parking spaces, two new accessible drop-off spaces and a relocated bus stop on Railway Parade.
Residents are encouraged to have their say on the draft concept design once it is made available.
Construction is expected to commence in late 2024, subject to planning approvals, with working expected to take approximately 18 months.

“It is a great and long overdue win for the Macquarie Fields community by a Labor Government.”
