Anne Stanley, Federal Member for Werriwa, and Anoulack Chanthivong, State Member for Macquarie Fields, have both hit out at proposed amendments to the Frasers Edmondson Park South Concept Plan.
The amendments, lodged on April 17, propose a reduction in the number of car parking spaces required for new units.
Residents and commuters already experience the unacceptable parking situation at Edmondson Park. These changes will mean more cars looking for parking.
“I am disappointed that these changes have even been considered," Anne Stanley said. "The only people who benefit from these changes are the developers."
Mr Chanthivong MP said the proposed changes were unfair and would exacerbate the existing parking crisis.
“Not only will this development see an explosion in density and
high-rises, it will squeeze people in with inadequate infrastructure and poor planning.
“Edmondson Park is already feeling the strain of woefully inadequate parking. A bad dream is set to become a living nightmare. The Liberals continue to put developers before people, and I won’t give up my campaign to Stop the Squeeze.”
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment determines the amendments. Submissions close on May 1st.
