STANLEY GIVES STATE GOVERNMENT A FAIL MARK ON LOCAL SCHOOLS
Anne Stanley MP, Member for Werriwa, has today given the State Government a fail mark on local schools, following the announcement of a public school at Edmondson Park.
“This is too little, too late – an utter failure. The State Government are well past their due date on this promise. Photo ops and re-announcements won’t educate our children.
“Many constituents have contacted me about the lack of public schools in Edmondson Park. Families with children as young as 5 are being forced to attend public schools over 5 kilometres away. And despite the State Government’s announcement today, they will continue to do so for years to come” Ms Stanley said.
With many schools in South-West Sydney over-enrolled and full of demountable classrooms, Ms Stanley has called for work on new schools to commence immediately.
“This is neglect and an utter planning failure on the part of the State Liberal Government. None of this was unforeseen – the same Government that looks after schools, is the same one who oversaw these new subdivisions and suburbs.
“Many schools in Werriwa are already over-enrolled; some up to 180% over capacity with 30 to 40 demountables.
“Stop the announcements and start delivering on our fair share,” she said.
