The Albanese Labor Government is Helping More Australians in Southwest Sydney into Homeownership
The Albanese Labor Government’s expanded Home Guarantee Scheme has helped over 100,000 Australians into homeownership, including 27,111 people in New South Wales.
That includes 1,350 Australians in southwest Sydney who have accessed the Scheme to become homeowners.
The expansion of the Home Guarantee Scheme delivers on the Albanese Labor Government’s commitment to help more Australians access government support and get into their own home. Almost 1 in 3 first home buyers in the 2022-2023 financial year were supported by the Scheme, up from one in seven the previous financial year.
The Albanese Labor Government continues to progress on the Government’s significant housing reforms, including Help to Buy.
Help to Buy will support homebuyers with an equity contribution of up to 40 per cent for new homes, and 30 per cent for existing homes to eligible participants.
Homebuyers will need a 2 per cent deposit to participate in Help to Buy and will have lower ongoing repayments over the life of their loan, providing permanent relief.
