Social Media Minimum Age

The Albanese Labor Government is taking world-leading action to reduce online harms experienced by young Australians, by introducing a minimum age for social media.

From 10 December 2025, social media platforms will need to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 from having a social media account.

More Medicare Bulk Billing

 

When you’re sick, seeing a doctor shouldn’t be a struggle. That’s why we’re making the single largest investment in Medicare ever.

 

 

From the 1st of November, for the first time, bulk billing incentives are being paid to GPs for every patient they bulk bill in Werriwa. Previously these incentives were only available to children under 16 and concession card holders.

Building a Stronger Super System

The Albanese Government is delivering more help to low-income workers and reforming the superannuation system to make it stronger, fairer and more sustainable.

 

We are helping low-income workers earn more, keep more of what they earn and retire with more too. Employers must also ensure super contributions are received by the employee’s fund within 7 business days of payday.

50th Medicare Mental Health Centre Opens

 

South Western Sydney residents now have more access to free, walk-in mental health support and care with the opening of the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Campbelltown.

Located at 8 Dumaresq Street, Campbelltown, the centre offers free mental health support and care for people in distress, without the need for an appointment, referral or mental health treatment plan.

Fee-Free TAFE is Here to Stay

New data released by the Albanese Labor Government has revealed there have been more than 685,000 Free TAFE enrolments across Australia since the start of the program.

The data also revealed that there have now been more than 190,000 courses completed – seeing more Australians starting careers as nurses, carpenters, aged care workers, electricians and early childhood educators.

By the end of last year, Werriwa already had over 1,600 Apprentices and Trainees in training.

The Environment Protection Reform Bill 2025 passed the House of Representatives with the support of every Labor MP, bringing real benefits to the environment, business, and community one step closer.

 

The legislation includes stronger environmental protections, more efficient and robust project approvals and greater accountability and transparency in environmental decision making.

Fair Work Amendment (Baby Priya’s Bill)

 

The Fair Work Amendment (Baby Priya’s) Bill 2025 passed Parliament on 3 November 2025, ensuring employer-funded paid parental leave protections are now enshrined in legislation for grieving parents experiencing the stillbirth or death of a child.

As the Bill passed through Parliament, I spoke on my own personal experiences with grief and infant loss.

The Australian honours system recognises the outstanding service and contributions of Australians. It gives the nation a chance to celebrate and acknowledge those who work tirelessly to improve local communities and to make Australia a better place.
