Cooperative Research Grants Opportunity Now Open
Small and medium sized businesses in Werriwa can now apply for grants of between $100,000 to $3 million under the Albanese Government’s Cooperative Research Centres Projects (CRC-P) initiative.
Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic launched round 16 of the CRC-P grants to support industry-led research projects for a period of up to three years.
Projects funded by the CRC-P have an aim to develop a product, service or process that will help solve community and economy problems.
These grants will support high value, industry-led research projects with the last round of CRC-Ps committing over $51 million in Commonwealth funding to support 21 innovative projects.
Established by the Hawke Labor Government over 30 years ago, the CRC Program has supported the establishment of 238 CRCs and 253 CRC Projects.
Round 16 will focus on the government priority areas in line with the Albanese Government’s Future Made in Australia agenda including net-zero technologies, circular economy and waste management, medical breakthroughs, agtech and community resilience and infrastructure.
The CRC-P grants are awarded through a competitive, merit-based selection process, assessed by an independent committee of industry experts.
Applications are open until Wednesday 5 June 2024 5:00pm AEST, further information is available at www.business.gov.au/crc-p.
Quotes attributable to the Hon Ed Husic, Minister for Industry and Science:
“Businesses and research partners have stepped up to the challenge of revitalising our manufacturing capabilities. The last CRC-P round saw the greatest number of applications ever received with more than double the number received in the previous round.
“We want to build on that momentum and are urging businesses and research partners to apply for funding in this round so we can keep up the great work.
“This is our Future Made in Australia plan in action, connecting the lab to the factory floor so we make more things here using world-leading Aussie know-how.
“From saving lives with new medical products, building better batteries or making more efficient use of our finite resources, these grants bring our best ideas to bear on real-world problems, creating jobs and new industries in the process.”
Quotes attributable to the Member for Werriwa, Ms Anne Stanley MP:
“I encourage small and medium sized businesses in Werriwa with big ideas to solve some of Australia’s biggest challenges to apply to the CRC-P initiative.
“Successful projects have the potential create new jobs in Werriwa and strengthen our local economy.”
