ANNE STANLEY MP
OPPOSITION WHIP
MEMBER FOR WERRIWA
MORRISON GOVERNMENT FAILURE ON COVID-19
Anne Stanley, Member for Werriwa, has called out the Morrison Government for their repeated failures during the Pandemic.
A recent media report revealed that the Morrison Government rejected a vaccine deal with Pfizer in July last year that could have provided as many doses to Australia as needed. The Government has not explained why this offer was rejected.
Australia currently sits outside the top 100 countries in total vaccinations and dead last in the OECD. This comes as Sydney and Melbourne face uncertainty with another COVID-19 outbreak.
“The Morrison Government had two jobs during this Pandemic: vaccinate the population quickly and efficiently and provide an effective quarantine system. They have failed at both.
“Less than 4% of Australians are fully vaccinated and it is because the Prime Minster failed to secure enough vaccines.
“There have also been 25 leaks of COVID-19 from hotel quarantine. If there were a national quarantine system, these outbreaks would not be happening.
“Scott Morrison needs to step up and do what is needed. We must build dedicated quarantine facilities in every state and territory and start a mass public information campaign on vaccinations.” Ms Stanley said.
